Notes

Description
Julia Johnson, a native of Wisconsin, has called Colorado home for the past 67 years. She learned to fly at the age of 19 when primarily men, not women, became pilots. A graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder with degrees in English and Education, Julia became the school principal and seventh and eighth grade teacher in "old" Dillon, now buried under Lake Dillon, Colorado. During that time she learned to ski, qualifying as a member of the National Ski Patrol at Arapahoe Basin in Colorado. While teaching in Dillon, she met and married Dale Johnson. As cofounder of Frostline Kits, an outdoor equipment business, backpacking trips to test their products took Julia from the deserts of the Southwest to the northern slopes of the Brooks Range in Alaska. She also became a volunteer guide for Colorado Mountain Club trips to Peru, Europe, Africa, and New Zealand. These many adventures found her on top of the Matterhorn, Mt. Fuji, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and Peru's 19,791-foot Tocllaraju. These accomplishments won her a membership in the American Alpine Club in 1970 when few women qualified. Julia has traveled extensively throughout her life, keeping travel journals as well as photographing her trips. Whatever You Do, Don't Fall In! Volumes 1 and 2 share these adventures and capture her accomplishments in her words and pictures.
